The Problem

Examining important issues in India through comedy

In their latest show “On Air with AIB”, All India Bakchod aimed to find comedy in tragedy through hard-hitting news comedy pieces that examine important issues in India. Hosted by Rohan Joshi, Tanmay Bhat, Ashish Shakya, and Gursimran Khamba, the show used data-driven sketches, interviews, and monologues to examine problems of corruption, fire safety, HIV/AIDS, sex education, and more.

The Solution

Powering AIB’s data-driven news comedy show

We partnered with AIB to power the data behind the show. For 16 data topics, we aggregated and analyzed data to come up with important insights to communicate the magnitude and complexity of each issue.

We analyzed data pulled from over 100 sources, including the Delhi Development Authority, Supreme Audit Institute of India, West Bengal Finance Department, Election Commission, Transport Department, and Unique Identification Authority of India.

We also supplemented our internal data with public opinion research (focusing on an analysis of Google Trends and news article data) and data from over 60 RTI requests.

Smart, witty, sly and relevant, 'On Air with AIB' is the best thing to watch on Indian television right now... Overall, it's always good if serious facts come wrapped in funny packages.
